Tribal Economic Development Resources

EDA is committed to providing the resources and opportunities to support economic success in Tribal communities. EDA’s reauthorization in the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act of 2024 institutionalized new resources and authorities to advance this goal.

In addition to being eligible for EDA’s ongoing funding programs, EDA established the Office of Tribal Economic Development. That office employs a full-time Tribal Engagement Coordinator who can be reached at [email protected]. This position serves as a liaison to stakeholders nationwide, while also providing Tribal support across the bureau.

EDA also conducts consultations with Tribal leaders to ensure meaningful and timely input in the development of regulatory policies with Tribal implications and provides technical assistance to Tribal communities in establishing their own Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).

Funding Opportunities

EDA’s entire suite of flexible programming is available to Tribal communities as well as opportunities exclusively designed to address their unique needs and economic development situations. These include: Assistance to Indigenous Communities, Economic Adjustment Assistance, Disaster Recovery, Tech Hubs, and more.
