The EDA awards announced today are:

  • North Wilkesboro, North Carolina: $2.4 million for sewer infrastructure improvements to support business development in the region following Hurricane Helene.
  • Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative (South Pittsburg, Tennessee): $2.0 million for construction of a new electrical substation to support industrial and commercial growth following severe storms in 2023.

“The FY 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program ensures that communities devastated by natural disasters are not just supported – they're empowered to transform their local economies in new and vibrant ways,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Ben Page, performing the nonexclusive duties and functions of the Assistant Secretary.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Economic Development Administration is investing in communities that are ready to grow, compete, and create lasting opportunity,” said Caleb Spencer, EDA Chief of Staff. “These grant awards reflect the Administration’s commitment to strengthening local economies, supporting American workers and businesses, and ensuring that federal resources are directed toward projects that deliver measurable results for the communities they serve.”

The EDA Fiscal Year 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program makes approximately $1.45 billion available to support economic recovery activities in areas that received major disaster declarations because of hurricanes, wildfires, severe storms and flooding, tornadoes, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2023 and 2024. EDA continues to review applications for portions of this funding on an ongoing basis – please review the application guidelines for more details.
